Podcasts set to boost Spotify profits

Spotify have published their financial results, for the last quarter of 2019, as they look to expand beyond music to boost profits by royalty payments. The music streaming service ended 2019 with 271 million monthly active users with 124 million of those active users being premium subscribers. The streaming service talked up its podcasts push, at the same time clearly trying to tackle fears by labels that the growth of non-music listening on Spotify will squeeze their royalties eventually.
