Mobile wins over Black Friday shoppers

Online retail sales grew in double digits on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday while mobile traffic exceeded that of desktop, according to the latest reports from IBM.

The latest figures from the IMRG show that Black Friday online spend reached £1.1 billion, with £495 million spent on smartphones and tablets.

Rapid ecommerce growth for Pets at Home

Pets at Home today reported fast growth in website traffic and the use of click and collect as it reported a 6 per cent rise in sales and a 10 per cent rise in profits in the first half of its financial year. The retailer is currently trialling order-in-store through kiosks in six stores, to make available an extended range of 13,000 products.

AO World reports 22 per cent sales growth

AO World, which also operates ao.de in Germany, said that total revenue grew to £264.3 million in the six months to September 15, 21.7 per cent higher than at the same time last year. But despite reporting sales up by over a fifth, the company behind ao.com reported losses of £8.9 million.

Bonmarché ecommerce hit by site disruption

Bonmarché reported revenues of £97 million in the 26 weeks to September 26, 6.5 per cent up on the same time last year, but online sales were hit when the launch of its responsive site disrupted search traffic.
